Entry of Afghan nationals banned in 16 cities of Iran

Bayan News – Iranian media have reported that with an order from the Supreme National Security Council of the country, the entry of Afghan nationals has been banned in 16 cities of Iran.

ISNA news agency, quoting Hamza Suleimani, the Director-General of Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs in Kermanshah, has reported that the accommodation and employment of Afghan nationals have been prohibited in 16 cities of Iran.

He stated that since the beginning of this year, eight phases of the identification, detention, and expulsion plan for illegal immigrants have been implemented in Kermanshah.

Hamedan, Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Ilam, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Zanjan, Ardabil, West Azerbaijan, and East Azerbaijan are among the cities where the entry of Afghans has been banned.

Recently, the Iranian government has increased the process of deporting illegal Afghan migrants.

The Iranian Minister of Interior has requested the caretaker government in Kabul to take measures for the return of Afghan migrants.

On the other hand, some members of the Iranian parliament had also stated that with the approval of a bill regarding foreign nationals, if Iranians provide housing or employment to unauthorized individuals, they will be punished.
