Three people have been killed and 44 others injured as a result of last night’s earthquake, the acting government’s Ministry of Public Health said.
Sharafat Zaman Arkhil, a spokesman for the ministry, said on Wednesday morning that the wounded had been taken to hospitals.
He said the dead were from Takhar and Laghman provinces.
According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, the figures are preliminary and the number of people killed and injured in the quake is likely to rise.
Last night, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook Afghanistan’s province unprecedentedly, with the epicenter of the quake reported to be Badakhshan Province in northern Afghanistan.
