Taliban: Ban on women working in UN offices is Afghanistan’s internal theme

Bayan News

Kabulacting governor Hakou Matt officials say the Islamic Emirate is not preventing the UN from working and that banning women from working in its offices is afghanistan’s internal issue.

Zabihullah Mujahid issued a statement on Wednesday saying that international institutions respect the demand of the Islamic Emirate (ban on women’s work).

“The current humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is due to sanctions and pressures that are still ongoing and are responsible for the situation of those who have imposed restrictions on Afghanistan’s financial and banking system,” he said in the statement.

According to Mujahid, the United Nations should resolve how Afghanistan’s assets are frozen, challenges to banks’ barriers, travel bans and other restrictions imposed against Afghanistan so that the country can make progress in resolving economic, political and security problems.

However, after banning women from working at UN offices in Afghanistan, it has suspended the duties of all its employees.

UNAMA warned yesterday that the United Nations will not implement the ban on kabul’s acting government and will explore the option of leaving Afghanistan if it continues.
