Zalmy Khalilzad, the former special representative of the US for the peace of Afghanistan, on the eve of the Doha meeting, which is going to be hosted by the United Nations, said that this meeting should provide a road map for international interaction with Afghanistan.
On Wednesday (April 26), Khalilzad welcomed the appointment of Turkish diplomat Fereydon Sinirlioglu as the special coordinator of the UN Independent Assessment Mission on the situation in Afghanistan and said that he has extensive experience in good judgment.
According to Khalilzad, the roadmap for international interaction with the Taliban also defines Sinirlioglu’s mission.
The former special representative of the US for Afghan affairs has emphasized that the best option for implementing the steps is again in the Doha agreement and it is important that Sinirlioglu participates in the Doha meeting.
Khalilzad further wrote: “There should be a meeting with the Taliban during the Doha meeting in order to determine their commitment to the full implementation of the Doha Agreement.”
The Doha meeting, hosted by the United Nations, will be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, with the participation of the special representatives of countries for Afghanistan.
