Moscow Officially Confirms the Death of Wagner Group Leader after Genetic Testing
Bayan News – The Russian government officially confirmed on Monday (August 27) that through genetic investigations, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, lost his life in an airplane crash in northwest Moscow.
According to international media reports, Russian researchers have stated that genetic tests have confirmed Prigozhin’s identity among the 10 individuals who were killed in the air accident last week.
Meanwhile, the Russian aviation agency had previously released the names of all 10 passengers of the private jet. These names included Prigozhin and Dmitry Utkin, his right-hand man who had assisted in establishing the Wagner Group.
The Russian Investigative Committee stated in a statement released on the messaging application Telegram: “As part of the aircraft crash investigation, molecular genetic examinations have been completed. Based on their results, the identities of all 10 deceased individuals have been determined. They correspond to the list indicated on the flight manifest.”
There have been speculations, particularly in pro-Wagner channels on Telegram, regarding whether Prigozhin—who was known for various precautionary measures to protect his life—had actually been on the flight.
Russian authorities have not yet revealed what caused the private jet to crash from the sky.
