North Korean Leader Travels to Russia

Bayan News – American media outlets have reported that Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, will travel to Russia this month to meet with Vladimir Putin and discuss Moscow’s arms supply. The New York Times, citing several US officials, added that the North Korean leader will travel to Vladivostok, Russia, by armored train and meet with Putin in the city.

However, North Korean and Russian authorities have not officially commented on the meeting of the two leaders.

In response to the news, John Kirby, the spokesperson for the US National Security Council, said yesterday (September 4th), “We urge North Korea to halt its arms negotiations with Russia and adhere to its explicit commitment not to sell weapons to Moscow.”

He warned North Korea that if it proceeds with this trip and discussions regarding Moscow’s arms supply, the United States will impose sanctions on North Korea.

Nevertheless, a few days ago, Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defense Minister, had traveled to North Korea.
