President of Tajikistan: Afghanistan Needs Intra-Afghan Dialogue for Stability
Bayan News – Imam Ali Rahman, the President of Tajikistan, addressed the current situation in Afghanistan during his speech on the second day of the seventy-eighth session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On Thursday (September 20th), he stated that the establishment of an inclusive government, the participation of all ethnic groups, political and social factions, and intra-Afghan dialogue are the only way for Afghanistan to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The President of Tajikistan emphasized that the security and regional cooperation in Central Asia are linked to the situation in Afghanistan.
Imam Ali Rahman highlighted that Afghanistan, after two years, still faces complex political and economic challenges, describing it as experiencing the largest humanitarian crisis.
He appealed to the international community to increase their humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, expressing Tajikistan’s readiness to cooperate in this regard.
The President of Tajikistan also addressed the issue of drug trafficking, expressing concern that drug trafficking has increased in Afghanistan in the past two years.
However, recently, Tajik authorities have also expressed concerns about drug trafficking from Afghanistan.
