Amiri: Without Respecting the Rights of the People, Normalization of Relations Will Not Exist

Bayan News – Rina Amiri, the U.S. Special Representative for Women’s Affairs and Human Rights in Afghanistan, says that the international community must make it clear to the interim government in Kabul that normalization of relations will not happen without respecting the rights of the people, particularly the fundamental rights of Afghan women.

She made these remarks yesterday (September 29) on the X network, and she is raising these concerns at a time when two female protesters have recently been detained by the intelligence agency of the Islamic Emirate.

UNAMA has also reacted to these actions by the forces of the interim government and has called on the ruling authorities to end the oppression of women and their detentions.

Rina Amiri explained that in the past month, she has had discussions on Afghan women with representatives of countries, women, and civil activists in various meetings.

She further wrote that women and civil activists should have meaningful participation in meetings held about Afghanistan, representing themselves.

Apparently, Ms. Amiri’s reference is to the Moscow meeting, which took place for one day in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, and in which no women participated.

The U.S. Special Representative for Women’s Affairs and Human Rights in Afghanistan continues to urge the international community to make it clear to the ruling authorities in Kabul that normalization of relations will not occur without respecting the rights of the people, especially women.
