Arrest of Public Health Director of Kunduz on Charges of Administrative Corruption

Bayan News – Reports indicate that Najibullah Sahil, the Public Health Director of Kunduz, has been arrested by intelligence forces on charges of administrative corruption and embezzlement in health projects and contracts.

According to a report in the daily newspaper Etilaatroz, citing two reliable sources, in addition to the Public Health Director, the head of the Hazara Hospital in Kunduz has also been arrested on similar charges.

It is said that the Public Health Director is accused of employing relatives and close associates as doctors and nurses.

Both the Public Health Director and the head of the Hazara Hospital were arrested about a month ago and are currently in detention.

Government officials have not yet officially commented on the matter.

However, with the reestablishment of the Islamic Emirate, financial and administrative corruption, which had plagued the previous government, has significantly diminished in public institutions.
