UNICEF Provides Medical Supplies for Pregnant Women in Herat Province

Bayan News – The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it has provided over 80 tons of medical supplies for the care of children, pregnant women, and operational equipment in Herat Province.

In a newsletter released on Monday, October 23rd, the organization stated that these supplies have now arrived in Kabul.

According to UNICEF, this shipment will assist 43,000 earthquake-affected families in Herat and includes medicines, health kits for women, and operational equipment for children.

UNICEF further added that these relief packages for women and children have been funded by the Asian Development Bank.

It should be noted that as a result of recent earthquakes in Herat Province in western Afghanistan, 1,300 lives have been lost, with a majority being women and children.

The United Nations has called upon the global community to provide financial assistance to address the situation of the people in Herat.
