World Bank: Poverty Rate Increases in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The World Bank has announced in a recent report that the poverty graph in Afghanistan has worsened, with half of the country’s population currently living in poverty.

The World Bank’s report, titled “Economic Review of Afghanistan,” states that although there is no shortage of goods in Afghan markets, people’s purchasing power has decreased.

According to the World Bank report, assessments indicate that the import rate has increased by 27 percent this year.

In recent days, the World Bank had also released a report stating that Afghanistan’s economy has not experienced significant growth in the past year, and people are suffering from unemployment.

Furthermore, the reduction in international aid, the limitations of the Kabul caretaker government, and the continuation of international sanctions have added to Afghanistan’s economic challenges.
