UN High Commissioner for Refugees expresses concern over deteriorating human rights situation in Afghanistan

Bayan News – Simultaneously with the continued mass expulsion of Afghan refugees by the Pakistani government, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees expresses concern that this action by Islamabad has worsened the human rights situation in Afghanistan.

The agency stated in a report on Saturday (November 18) that the expulsion of Afghan refugees on the eve of winter exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the country.

According to the agency, most of the expelled refugees from Pakistan are left without jobs and homes, which further aggravates the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

The report by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees indicates that since the ultimatum by Pakistan, 350,000 refugees have been expelled from the country, and this trend continues to increase.

According to the report, those who are expelled have neither a roof over their heads nor a job for livelihood, and most of them rely on humanitarian assistance.

However, it is said that after the political developments in Afghanistan in 2021, over 600,000 people have become internally displaced in the country.
