Review of the Human Rights Situation in Afghanistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council Meeting
Bayan News – Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s representative in Geneva, says that the human rights situation in Afghanistan is one of the focal points at the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the Human Rights Council.
In a video released on the X platform on Tuesday, December 11th, he added that the human rights situation in Afghanistan appears to be concerning to the global community.
According to Andisha, efforts are being made to bring the voice of the Afghan people to the attention of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
He also revealed that in addition to the human rights situation in Afghanistan, topics such as the Gaza developments, climate change, and the risks arising from artificial intelligence will be discussed and examined at the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting.
However, yesterday, December 10th, marked Human Rights Day, and numerous human rights organizations called on the interim Kabul government to adhere to human rights commitments.
Furthermore, Rosalind Marsden, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, also appealed to the authorities of the interim Kabul government in a message to accept human rights commitments and lay the foundation for stability and prosperity in Afghanistan.
The authorities of the interim Kabul government have consistently emphasized that they only commit to international laws that do not contradict Islamic law.
Some officials consider human rights as a tool of Western countries.
