Bayan News – The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health announced today, Tuesday (January 29th), the start of a polio vaccination campaign across Afghanistan. Officials from the ministry added that over the next four days, 7.5 million children throughout the country will be vaccinated against polio.
However, in recent years, several cases of polio have been reported in Afghanistan, despite the disease being eradicated in most countries. Last year, six positive cases of polio were recorded in some villages of Afghanistan, including in Zabul province.
In the past, due to security challenges, the polio vaccination campaign was not carried out in most villages of Afghanistan, which allowed the disease to continue to spread among children.
