UK Chargé d’Affaires: Non-participation of Islamic Emirate representatives in Doha meeting was unexpected

Bayan News – Robert Dixon, the UK Chargé d’Affaires for Afghanistan, stated during a meeting with Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Political Deputy, that the non-participation of Islamic Emirate representatives in the Doha meeting was unexpected.

According to the official statement, the meeting took place on Friday (February 29th) in Kabul, where the UK Chargé d’Affaires added that his country is interested in a cooperative partnership with the Islamic Emirate for a prosperous and stable Afghanistan.

The British diplomat further expressed hope that the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations demonstrate flexibility in their positions, fostering positive and constructive interaction between Afghanistan and the international community.

Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Political Deputy of the Taliban’s interim government, stated that there is currently a central and independent government in Afghanistan, and there is no threat from the country.

Referring to the Doha meeting, he emphasized that the Islamic Emirate represents Afghanistan in international gatherings, and those invited to these meetings do not represent Afghanistan or its people.

The Political Deputy of the Taliban’s government reiterated that the non-participation of Islamic Emirate representatives in the Doha meeting does not imply a lack of engagement with the international community. If the demands of the current Kabul government are considered in the future, they will be ready to participate.
