Dr. Abdullah called for the reopening of girls’ schools and universities.

Bayan News – Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, a former Afghan government official, in a message for the occasion of the new solar year, urged the Taliban to open the doors of schools and universities to girls.

Mr. Abdullah, in his message on Wednesday (March 19), said: “We hope that Nowruz and spring, which are always heralds of new ideas, actions, and decisions for the future, will be accompanied by positive changes.”

This former Afghan government official, based in Kabul, expects that in the new academic year, the doors of schools and universities will be opened to girls, and opportunities for women in the country will be provided.

It should be noted that after the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, several orders were issued regarding the restriction of women and girls, with the most important of these orders being the exclusion of girls from schools and universities.

However, despite the issuance of the order banning girls’ education, the Taliban stated that they were not opposed to education, but the doors of schools and universities remained closed until a safe environment was established.

After the issuance of the order banning girls’ education, it has been almost three years since girls have been prevented from attending schools and universities, a policy that has harmed women and girls psychologically and emotionally.

Published reports indicate that many families have decided to migrate involuntarily in order to educate their daughters.
