The United Nations describes the Taliban leader’s statements about women as discouraging

Bayan News – The United Nations has responded to the statements made by the Taliban leader, in which he stated that the accused should be publicly punished and women should be whipped in public, describing them strongly as discouraging.

Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, told reporters on Tuesday, March 25th: “It’s extremely discouraging. You know that we have expressed our sustained concerns about the mistreatment of women within the Taliban’s directives.”

He once again urged the Taliban to revoke the restrictive directives for women and girls.

The Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General emphasized that the organization is exerting pressure for the revocation of these directives and, at the same time, continues its efforts to ensure equal rights for women in Afghanistan and all countries.

The Taliban leader’s statements about women in Afghanistan have generated a strong reaction.
