Floods and severe storms have claimed the lives of 14 individuals in several provinces of Afghanistan

Bayan News – Following heavy rainfall, storms, and the onset of floods in the provinces of Oruzgan, Helmand, and Herat, 10 people have lost their lives.

Local sources in these provinces have informed Afghan media on Sunday (May 5th) that these natural disasters occurred overnight in the provinces of Oruzgan, Helmand, and Herat.

According to the sources, in addition to the loss of lives, the floods and severe storms have also caused significant financial damages.

The sources further stated that as a result of the intense storm in Tirinkot, the capital of Oruzgan province, seven individuals have lost their lives, and a considerable number of houses have been destroyed.

The ongoing floods in this province continue to devastate agricultural lands and livestock.

Meanwhile, local sources have reported that severe floods have also occurred in the provinces of Badakhshan, Ghor, Sar-e Pol, Baghlan, Faryab, Takhar, Kunduz, Jowzjan, and Kandahar.

According to reports, as a result of the floods in these provinces, four people have lost their lives, and it is feared that the number of victims may increase.

The Ministry of Natural Disaster Affairs has not provided statistics on this matter thus far.
