Kabulov: Removal of the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations is on Putin’s agenda

Bayan News – Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, says that the removal of the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations is on Putin’s agenda.

The TASS news agency reported on Monday (May 27) that the Russian Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs have informed the country’s president that the conditions for removing the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations have been met.

However, the Russian special representative also stated that there are still some issues related to the Taliban that remain to be resolved, and a decision will be made after those are addressed; but Kabulov did not specify what those issues are.

According to Kabulov, the possibility of recognizing the Taliban government is more likely now than it was two years ago when they came to power.

This Russian diplomatic official had previously stated that the Taliban is no longer an enemy of Russia.

Nevertheless, the relationship between the Taliban and the Russian government has been steadily improving day by day.

This comes at a time when a UN-hosted meeting in Doha is scheduled to take place within the next month, with the participation of special representatives of various countries for Afghanistan.
