Taliban Minister: We are Ready for Security Talks with Russia
Bayan News – Abdul Manan Omari, the Taliban’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, stated that the Taliban is ready to discuss the expansion of security relations with Russia.
He made these remarks during his trip to St. Petersburg on Friday, June 7th, and added that the Taliban expects to be removed from the list of terrorist organizations.
This Taliban official expressed that the removal of their name from Russia’s list of terrorist organizations would be an important step for the progress of relations between the two countries.
It is worth noting that Russian officials had previously stated that the removal of the Taliban’s name from the list of terrorist organizations is on the agenda of the Russian President.
However, Russian officials have emphasized that despite the strengthening of relations between the two countries, the removal of the Taliban’s name from the blacklist would be premature.
In recent days, senior Russian security officials have expressed concern about the growth of extremism in Afghanistan and have described the country as a source of instability for the Central Asian countries.
