The U.S.-proposed ceasefire resolution for Gaza was approved by the UN Security Council

Bayan News – the United Nations Security Council on Monday (June 10) approved the U.S.-proposed resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution was passed with 14 votes in favor and one abstention by Russia.

The U.S. resolution includes proposals made by the U.S. President a couple of weeks ago. In the first stage, a comprehensive six-week ceasefire will be established, during which Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners will be exchanged.

Under this resolution, Israeli soldiers will withdraw from the densely populated areas of Gaza, and Palestinian refugees will return to their homes. The resolution also states that effective and secure humanitarian aid, including shelter, will be provided to the people of Gaza.

The U.S. proposal’s second stage involves the release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza. The third stage calls for the reconstruction of Gaza over the coming years.
