Bayan News – The Afghan national cricket team qualified for the Cricket World Cup semifinals for the first time after defeating Bangladesh in a thrilling match.

This historic win of the Afghan cricket team brought happiness to citizens in many major cities of Afghanistan.

Thousands of residents of Nangarhar, Khost, Laghman and Kandahar provinces celebrated in the streets on Tuesday (June 25).

Furthermore, political figures and the Taliban, including Ashraf Ghani, Hamid Karzai, Dr. Abdullah, Amir Khan Muttaqi and other prominent political personalities, congratulated this historic victory.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, in a phone call with Rashid Khan, the captain of the Afghan national cricket team, congratulated the team on their victory.

Muttaqi added that the Taliban keeps sports separate from politics.

The Taliban Foreign Ministry official referred to the participants of the Vienna meeting as a “wandering crowd”
