Taliban: Nearly 2 million refugees have returned to Afghanistan in the past year
Bayan News – Officials from the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations say that in the past year, more than 1,799,000 people have returned to Afghanistan from countries like Iran, Pakistan, and others.
Officials from this ministry reported on their activities of the past year to the media at a press conference in Kabul on Sunday (August 11).
According to the Taliban refugee ministry officials, over the course of the year, cash and in-kind assistance was provided to 788,821 internally displaced and returning families.
The ministry also stated that 5,766 Afghan refugees who were imprisoned in Pakistan and Turkey have been released and repatriated to their home areas.
Pakistan and Iran have recently started the process of detaining and deporting Afghan migrants.
