McCaul asks Blinken once again to testify about the withdrawal from Afghanistan

Bayan News – Three years after the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the United States has once again called for Blinken to testify regarding this action by the United States.

Michael McCaul has sent a letter requesting the reappearance of Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. According to published reports, this letter was sent to the U.S. Department of State on Tuesday (August 13).

In this letter, McCaul has asked Mr. Blinken to clarify his availability to appear before the House Foreign Affairs Committee by August 19; otherwise, he will face a subpoena.

McCaul wrote in the letter: “Unlike other senior officials from the Department of Defense, the Department of State, and the National Security Council of the United States, you (Antony Blinken) have not yet responded to the questions posed in part of the committee’s investigations.”

He added: “Now is the time for your appearance, and as you describe, by providing answers to the American people, honor the sacrifices of the families of the Gold Star (American) soldiers.”

The House Foreign Affairs Committee has called Blinken several times over the past three years to explain the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan. This senior member of the House of Representatives has consistently challenged the policies of President Joe Biden’s administration regarding the Taliban.
