Hamas Rejects U.S.’s New Ceasefire Proposal for Gaza
Bayan News – following the recent visit of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Israel, Hamas has rejected Washington’s new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.
The international media reported that on Sunday, August 18th, Hamas accused the Israeli Prime Minister of prolonging the Gaza war in a statement. The group’s statement said: “After being informed by mediators about what happened in the last round of negotiations in Doha, we have again concluded that Netanyahu is still creating obstacles to reaching an agreement.”
Hamas also accused Netanyahu of “setting new conditions and demands with the aim of undermining the mediators’ efforts and prolonging the war” in its statement.
Hamas’s rejection of Washington’s new proposal comes as the U.S. Secretary of State visited Israel yesterday. Furthermore, three days ago, U.S. President Joe Biden had said that Israel and Hamas are closer than ever to a ceasefire agreement.
