DiCarlo: The “Promotion of Virtue” law will hinder Afghanistan’s return to the global stage

Bayan News – The UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peace Affairs, in response to the Taliban’s ratification of the “Promotion of Virtue” law, said that this law will hinder Afghanistan’s return to the global stage.

Rosemary DiCarlo, on Monday (August 26) on the X platform, wrote that this law further restricts human rights and freedoms, especially of women and girls.

This senior Taliban official also considered the ratification of this law by the Taliban to be contrary to human “conscience”.

The “Promotion of Virtue” law was ratified last week by the Taliban leader. This law has one chapter, one preamble, and 35 articles.

According to this law, covering the entire body of women is mandatory and their voices are considered part of their genitals.

The ratification of this law has provoked widespread national and international reactions. The United Nations, the European Union, the United States, Canada, and a number of other countries have condemned this law.
