Muttaqi: Our legitimate right to recognition has been taken from us
Bayan News – Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, stated at the fiftieth meeting of Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that the international community has taken away their legitimate right to recognition.
The text of Amir Khan Muttaqi’s statement was published on Friday evening (August 30) by Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The statement reads: “Unjust economic sanctions have been imposed on us. Our legitimate right to recognition has been taken from us, and our right to have representatives in international specialized organizations has also been denied.”
According to Muttaqi, in addition to all these sanctions, the United States has blocked billions of dollars in Afghanistan’s assets.
This senior Taliban official also mentioned that a propaganda war against the Taliban is ongoing; however, Muttaqi did not specifically name any country or organization.
In another part of his speech, Amir Khan Muttaqi referred to the achievements of Afghanistan over the past three years, adding that there are no longer power islands in this country and that corruption has been completely eradicated.
While the Organization of Islamic Cooperation invited the Taliban to this meeting, the Afghan national flag was used, and it has been reported that Muttaqi was not allowed to participate in the group photo of Foreign Ministers from the member countries of the Islamic Cooperation.
