Report of an 11-Year-Old Girl’s Suicide in Faryab
Bayan News – Local sources in Faryab province in northern Afghanistan say that an 11-year-old girl has committed suicide in the city of Maymana, the capital of the province.
On Saturday (September 7), local sources identified the girl as “Fatima” and stated that she hanged herself in her home in the “Kohi Khana” area of the first district of Maymana.
According to the sources, Taliban forces have transferred Fatima’s body to the hospital for investigation.
The reason for the girl’s suicide has not been clarified.
This is the latest in a series of reports regarding the suicides of girls in Faryab over the past two months.
Domestic violence, poverty, unemployment, and the uncertain future in Afghanistan are considered key factors contributing to youth suicides in the country.
