Iranian Interior Minister: Afghan Citizens Should Return and Build Their Homeland

Bayan News – Amid the intensification of forced deportations of Afghan migrants by the Islamic Republic, the Iranian Interior Minister has urged Afghan migrants to return to their country and rebuild it.

Eskandar Momeni, the Iranian Interior Minister, made these remarks on Monday evening (September 9) during an interview with the Daneshjoo news agency.

This official from the Islamic Republic stated that in the first phase of the refugee organization plan, migrants without residency documents will be deported from Iran.

Referring to the number of illegal Afghan migrants in Iran, he emphasized that the current situation is no longer bearable for Tehran. “It is expected that Afghan citizens in Iran will return to their country and build their homeland,” he said.

Momeni stressed that the conditions in Iran no longer allow for the acceptance of refugees.

However, following the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, more than one million Afghans have migrated to Iran, most of whom have entered through illegal routes.
