The Taliban have begun the construction of the second lane of the Kabul-Ghazni highway

Bayan News – The Office of Economic Assistance of the Taliban Prime Minister states that the construction work for the first and second phases of the second lane of the Kabul-Ghazni highway has started up to the “Dasht-e-Top” area in the Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak province.

This office announced in a statement that the construction of this section of the Kabul-Ghazni highway commenced on Tuesday (September 10) with the presence of Abdul Ghani Baradar.

According to the statement from the Office of Economic Assistance of the Taliban Prime Minister, the second lane of the Kabul-Ghazni highway is 111 kilometers long and features nine bridges and 594 culverts along its route.

This office has not specified the cost and duration of the construction of the second lane of this highway.

The Taliban Ministry of Public Works had previously stated that the Kabul-Kandahar highway, part of which runs along the Kabul-Ghazni route, is being asphalted in the “Pul-e-Sheikh Abad” area of the Sayed Abad district in Maidan Wardak province.

This ministry announced in mid-July that this highway would be closed for two days due to the asphalt work.

The Kabul-Kandahar highway is one of the main and busiest highways in the country, connecting Kabul with several other provinces in the south.
