Hunger Crisis in Afghanistan: At least 350,000 Malnourished Children Receive Treatment
Bayan News – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that currently, 343,000 malnourished children in Afghanistan are receiving treatment.
UNICEF added in a statement on Sunday (September 22) that this year, 343,000 children have been hospitalized in Afghanistan for treatment, and the organization is working to address this challenge.
The UN body stated that therapeutic food is essential for the recovery of children, and in Afghanistan, UNICEF is the sole provider of such food.
Earlier, the World Health Organization had announced that food insecurity is becoming a growing crisis in Afghanistan, with 2.9 million children under the age of five currently facing malnutrition.
The organization also stated that 850,000 of these children are suffering from acute malnutrition.
