Violation of Women’s Rights in Afghanistan; 20 Countries Support the Trial of the Taliban

Bayan News – It has been reported that over 20 countries around the world have supported the decision of Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, and Canada to bring the Taliban to the International Court of Justice.

On Thursday (September 26), the Associated Press reported that these 20 countries have condemned human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly the gender discrimination against women and girls by the Taliban.

The international media outlet stated that the aforementioned countries have expressed that they do not politically recognize the Taliban as the legitimate leaders of the country.

Recently, the foreign ministers of the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, and Germany warned that if the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan does not improve, they will file a complaint against the Taliban for human rights violations at the International Court of Justice.

These countries clearly stated that the violation of the rights of Afghan women and girls must stop.

On the other hand, Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban government, reacted to these criticisms on the X platform, stating that human rights in Afghanistan are protected and that there is no gender discrimination.
