Araqchi: Afghanistan’s Neighboring Countries Will Not Allow the Growth of Terrorism

Bayan News – Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that Afghanistan’s neighboring countries will not allow terrorism and extremism to grow in that country.

He made these remarks on Friday (September 27) during a quadrilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of Russia, China, and the defense minister of Pakistan. In this meeting, Araqchi expressed concern that terrorist groups not only threaten the people of Afghanistan but also the security of the entire region.

The Iranian diplomat clearly stated that Afghanistan’s neighboring countries will not allow the growth of extremism in the country.

According to a statement released by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting concluded with a 19-point declaration. The participating countries have not yet released this declaration.

The ministry added that the quadrilateral meeting criticized the 20-year presence of the U.S. and NATO in Afghanistan, and blamed the current situation on their disgraceful withdrawal. Araqchi noted that the U.S. and NATO are responsible for many of the challenges that Afghanistan and its neighbors now face.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on the X platform last night that in the meeting, the participants discussed approaches to resolving Afghanistan’s issues and emphasized that there is no alternative to engaging and cooperating with the current Taliban authorities.
