The UK intends to accept visa applications from hundreds of former Afghan army commandos

Bayan News – It has been reported that the UK government has decided to relocate hundreds of former Afghan army commandos, along with their families, who are eligible for resettlement.

British media reported on Monday, October 14, that the asylum requests of these forces had previously been rejected by the former UK government.

According to the reports, at least 500 special forces personnel from Afghanistan’s former security forces have been deemed eligible for resettlement in the UK, and these forces were previously receiving salaries from the UK government.

However, published statistics show that after the fall of the previous Afghan government, the migration applications of around 2,000 former Afghan commandos, who served in special units known as “Triple A,” were rejected by the UK.

Additionally, Luke Pollard, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence, told members of the House of Commons that a Ministry of Defence review had revealed that some of the Afghan commandos were directly employed by the UK government.

The previous Conservative government had informed Parliament that these forces had not been directly employed, but Pollard confirmed on Monday that this information was incorrect.

The British official added that around 2,000 visa applications from Afghan commandos that had been previously rejected are now being reconsidered.

This decision comes as, over the past three years, hundreds of former Afghan army personnel have been detained or killed by Taliban forces.
