Afghan Interim Taliban Government to Trump: We Hope You Will Take “Realistic” Steps Towards Mutual Engagement

Bayan News – In response to Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election, the Foreign Ministry of the Taliban’s interim government expressed hope that Trump will pursue a “realistic” approach in engaging with the current government in Kabul.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson for the ministry, posted on Platform X on Wednesday evening (November 6), noting that the Doha Agreement between the Taliban and the United States was signed during Trump’s first term, leading to the end of the twenty-year occupation in Afghanistan.

This Taliban Foreign Ministry official further noted that they expect Mr. Trump to play a constructive role in reducing ongoing violence in the region and the world, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon.

It is worth mentioning that Donald Trump, from the Republican Party, won the U.S. presidential election with 277 electoral votes, defeating his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris. This marks Trump’s second term as U.S. president.

During Trump’s first presidency, the Doha Agreement between U.S. and Taliban representatives was signed, facilitating the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
