Afghan Political Movements: Shahid Kazemi Was “An Exception in the History of Political Struggles”
Bayan News – The seventeenth anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayed Mustafa Kazemi, former Minister of Commerce and chairman of the Economic Commission in Afghanistan’s previous Parliament, was commemorated on Tuesday, November 5, in a webinar attended by political leaders and movements.
In this webinar, prominent political figures, including Yunus Qanooni, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Fawzia Koofi, and others, delivered speeches reflecting on the legacy of Martyr Kazemi.
Yunus Qanooni stated that if the thoughts and ideas of Shahid Kazemi had been implemented, Afghanistan’s situation would be far better than it is today.
Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the People’s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, also spoke about the deadly Baghlan incident and the martyrdom of Mr. Kazemi and his companions.
Mr. Mohaqiq emphasized Kazemi’s efforts to foster national unity in the country. He added that Kazemi was opposed to corruption and discrimination and carried out effective and impactful work during his tenure as Minister of Commerce.
Meanwhile, Sayed Masood Kazemi, head of Shahid Kazemi’s organization, expressed gratitude to the participants and noted that honoring the martyrs of the Islamic world serves as a foundation for unity and solidarity among Muslims.
He spoke of the ongoing bloody events, from Afghanistan to Lebanon and Gaza, stating: “The same hand that assassinated Shahid Kazemi also took Martyr Hassan Nasrallah, Martyr Yahya Sinwar, and other martyrs of the path to freedom from us.”
He further addressed the current situation in Afghanistan, stressing the need for a comprehensive political platform to help the country overcome its current challenges. He added that Kazemi was a man of vision and strategy and achieved significant results as an effective political and governmental leader.
Fawzia Koofi, leader of Afghanistan’s Wave of Change Party, also highlighted that Kazemi was an extraordinarily charismatic political figure and “an exception in the history of political struggles.”
She noted that Kazemi practiced political moderation and believed that Afghanistan could be set on a path of development and transformation with this approach.
The ceremony also included messages from prominent political figures in the country, including Ahmad Massoud, leader of Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front; Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, leader of Afghanistan’s National Islamic Movement; Salahuddin Rabbani, leader of Afghanistan’s Jamiat-e Islami Party; and Atta Mohammad Noor, former governor of Balkh.
