Iranian Ambassador Meets Taliban’s Defense Minister
Bayan News – Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Ambassador and Special Representative of the President of Iran, met with Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Defense Minister of the Taliban’s interim government.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced that the meeting took place on Wednesday, November 20, at the minister’s office, where the two sides discussed bilateral issues.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Iranian ambassador and the defense minister discussed topics such as strengthening friendly relations, good neighborliness, trade, border cooperation, and Afghan refugee issues. Both sides also expressed their willingness to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
It is worth noting that in recent days, Ambassador Kazemi Qomi has held discussions with several senior Taliban officials and prominent Afghan political figures, including the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban and Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, Ambassador Qomi also met and discussed with Hamid Karzai.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul stated that during the meeting, Karzai requested that Iran offer an “initiative” to address the problems of the Afghan people.
