Iranian Military Official Declares the Presence of Undocumented Afghans in Iran a Crime

Bayan News – Qasem Rezaei, Deputy Commander of the Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has declared that the presence of undocumented Afghans in Iran constitutes a crime.

He made these remarks on Thursday (December 26) during a farewell and introduction ceremony for the police commander of Kish Island. Rezaei emphasized that special sensitivity must be shown towards the presence of undocumented Afghans in Iran’s tourist areas, such as Kish.

According to Iranian media, the military official also issued a warning to employers hiring undocumented Afghans.

Previously, Iranian authorities announced that by the end of this Persian calendar year, around one million Afghan migrants would be deported from Iran.

According to published statistics, Iran has already expelled nearly one million undocumented migrants, with the pace of deportations intensifying daily.

Meanwhile, three days ago, the spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stressed that any return must be voluntary, referencing this decision by the Islamic Republic.
