Taliban’s Acting Defense Minister Travels to Qatar for Defense Industry Exhibition
Bayan News – Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the acting Minister of Defense, and Fasihuddin Fetrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban, have traveled to Qatar on Monday, March 3rd.
According to the Ministry of Defense newsletter, the acting minister will meet with Qatari officials to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries during his visit.
It has also been mentioned that the acting Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff will participate in the “Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference” (DIMDEX).
DIMDEX is an exhibition showcasing defense industry technologies where security officials from different countries participate and visit.
The visit of senior Taliban officials to Qatar comes shortly after the United Nations session for Afghanistan, which was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, with the participation of special representatives from various countries.
The Taliban delegation did not participate in the session due to their non-acceptance of its conditions by the United Nations.
Nevertheless, Qatar is among the countries that have close relations with the Taliban, and over the past fifteen years, it has allowed the opening of their political office in Doha.
These relations have deepened since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
