Trump: Afghanistan Under Taliban Control Becoming Largest Arms Dealer in the World
Bayan News – Former U.S. President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that Afghanistan under Taliban rule has become the world’s largest location for the sale of military weapons.
He made these statements on Thursday (July 18) at the fourth National Republican Convention. Trump broke the record for the longest speech in American history.
Trump bluntly stated that the Taliban, by selling American weapons, has turned Afghanistan into a major global arms sales hub.
Referring to the negotiations with the Taliban in Doha, the capital of Qatar, he expressed that he would not have withdrawn U.S. forces from Afghanistan as long as the Taliban did not fulfill their promises.
According to him, U.S. President Joe Biden handed over $85 billion worth of military equipment to the Taliban by withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
The former U.S. president added, “What kind of a deal was that? He left, and he gave everything to them. Right now, Afghanistan is one of the biggest arms dealers in the world, selling beautiful new and perfect weapons.”
Stating that the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan did not happen according to his plan, Trump noted that the Taliban did not dare attack U.S. soldiers for 18 months, as he had severely warned them.
The Taliban have not reacted to these statements by Trump.
It is worth noting that U.S. forces left Afghanistan in August 2021 on the orders of current U.S. President Joe Biden, handing over the country to the Taliban.
