Palestinian groups agree to form a “national reconciliation” government
Bayan News – Foreign media have reported on negotiations between at least 14 Palestinian groups, including Hamas and Fatah, in Beijing, the capital of China, which have resulted in the signing of an agreement to form a national reconciliation government in Gaza.
The Associated Press reported in an article published on Tuesday (July 23) that the Palestinian groups Hamas and Fatah signed an agreement in Beijing that would end a multi-year rift and is seen as a step towards potentially resolving the deep divide between the parties.
The formation of a “national reconciliation” government in Gaza after the war is one of the items in the “ending the division and strengthening Palestinian unity” agreement that the delegations from Hamas and Fatah have signed in the Beijing negotiations.
The joint statement of the Hamas and Fatah groups shows that the result of the latest dialogue in a series of dialogues conducted to unite the parties is the formation of a national unity government for the Palestinian territories.
The main parties to this historic negotiation have overcome a long history of differences spanning more than 15 years, and with the mediation of China, have reached a fragile agreement, as previous negotiations and efforts to unite the Palestinian groups had failed.
