Bayan News – the Afghanistan Journalists Center says that Mohammad Ebrahim Mohtaj, a local journalist in Kandahar province, has been arrested by Taliban virtue and vice officials.
The center said on Monday (July 29) that Mr. Mohtaj was a presenter and reporter for a local radio station.
The source told the Afghanistan Journalists Center that the Kandahar security authorities have expressed ignorance about this case, and security officials have said that he has not been arrested.
However, a local journalist in Kandahar told the Afghanistan Journalists Center that Mohtaj was arrested around 4:00 pm on Saturday by employees of the Virtue and Vice Department of Kandahar province after leaving his office.
According to this source, the circumstances and reasons for the arrest of this journalist are still unknown.
