Use of Telegram Among Ukrainian Officials Banned
Bayan News – The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has banned the use of the Telegram messaging app in government agencies and by security and military officials in the country.
According to international media reports, this decision was made due to fears of Russian espionage.
On Friday, September 20, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine issued an order prohibiting the use of this messaging app on phones and personal devices.
This restriction was announced after Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, informed the National Security Council that Russian special services have the ability to spy through the messaging app.
Telegram has many users in both Russia and Ukraine and has become a key source of information since the war between the two countries began.
However, Ukrainian security officials have repeatedly expressed concerns about the use of this app.
In response to the decision, Telegram stated that it has never provided any data to any country, including Russia, and that deleted messages on the platform are permanently erased and cannot be technically recovered.
