Four countries threatened the Taliban: We will file a complaint with the International Court of Justice

Bayan News – Germany, Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands have warned that if the Taliban do not change their behavior towards women and girls in Afghanistan, they will file a complaint with the International Court of Justice.

German media reported on Wednesday (September 25) that these countries have prepared a draft statement on this matter, and this draft has been developed in collaboration with a group of Afghan women activists with more detailed work.

According to reports, this effort focuses on widespread human rights violations and gender apartheid in Afghanistan, and it is expected that once finalized, it will be referred to the International Court of Justice.

This draft has been prepared within the framework of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, of which Afghanistan is also a member, and all four countries emphasize the need to stop the violation of women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Foreign Minister, stated before the start of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York that her country wants those who commit the most severe violations of international law to be held accountable.

She is scheduled to meet on Wednesday with her counterparts from Australia and Canada.

It is worth noting that the International Court of Justice is the judicial organ of the United Nations responsible for handling international disputes and human rights issues.
