Hezbollah’s Deadly Drone Attack on Israel: 60 Israelis Killed and Injured
Bayan News – International media have reported a deadly drone attack by Hezbollah, the Lebanese group, on the military base of the Golani Brigade in the Binyamina area, south of Haifa.
This attack, which took place on Sunday evening (October 13), was described by Hezbollah in a statement as part of a series of operations in response to Israeli attacks on the Dahyeh area of Beirut and crimes against Lebanese civilians.
According to Hebrew sources, the drone strike targeted the dining hall of the Golani Brigade base, resulting in the deaths of seven Israelis and the injury of 53 others. Media also reported that four Israeli soldiers were killed.
This attack has been the deadliest drone strike carried out by Hezbollah against Israeli military forces since the start of the war against Lebanon.
Additionally, Israeli media reported that Hezbollah used two “Mersad” drones in the Sunday attack on Binyamina, which entered Israeli airspace after flying over the sea.
According to reports, Israeli air defense systems identified the two drones and shot one down over the coast of Haifa. However, after losing track of the second drone on radar, it was speculated that the second drone had crashed due to an accident.
As reported by The Times of Israel, the very low altitude of the second drone caused the radar to lose its signal.
According to Alma Research Center, an Israeli research organization, the Mersad drone has a flight range of 120 kilometers and can carry up to 40 kilograms of explosives at a speed of 370 kilometers per hour.
