Hezbollah Secretary-General: “We do not fight on behalf of anyone”

Bayan News – In his first speech as the Secretary-General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, Naeem Qassem stated that this military-political organization does not seek war, but if anyone desires conflict, they will stand strong.

His speech took place on Wednesday, October 30, where he stated: “We have repeatedly said we do not want war; Hassan Nasrallah did not seek war either, but if war comes, we will stand firm with strength.”

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah added that this is not a war of Israel against Lebanon and Gaza alone, but that the United States and the European Union are also complicit.

Qassem said his plan is to continue the path pursued by Hassan Nasrallah, including “continuing resistance” and supporting Gaza.

Naeem Qassem further clarified that Hezbollah should not be blamed for supporting Gaza, emphasizing that Israel has never needed an excuse to attack Gaza and Lebanon.

He began his speech by remembering Hashem Safi al-Din, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, whose death was recently confirmed. He then expressed condolences over the death of Yahya Sinwar, head of Hamas’ political office, who “fought until the last moment.”

Qassem’s appointment as Hezbollah’s Secretary-General was announced yesterday. Shortly afterward, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant commented that his appointment was “temporary.”

Following Hassan Nasrallah’s death, Naeem Qassem had been considered one of the potential candidates for Hezbollah’s Secretary-General.
