Fourth Round of Doha Talks; UNAMA Chief Meets with Hamid Karzai
Bayan News – Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced that he met with Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Kabul, to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
On Thursday, October 31, Karzai shared on Platform X his appreciation for the United Nations’ support in various areas, especially in providing educational facilities and resources and in efforts to strengthen women’s economic empowerment.
The former president emphasized the constructive role of women in society and called for increased cooperation from UNAMA. Karzai also reiterated that national unity is essential for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan, stressing the need to reopen schools and universities for girls.
This meeting comes as the United Nations is set to host the fourth round of the Doha talks in Qatar.
