Indian Diplomatic Delegation Meets with Taliban Officials and Afghan Politicians in Kabul

Bayan News – JP Singh, India’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, who recently arrived in Kabul leading a delegation, has met and held discussions with senior officials of the Taliban interim government and Afghan political figures, including former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Over the past two days, the Indian diplomat has met with the interim defense minister, the foreign minister, and Hamid Karzai.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that Mawlawi Yaqoob Mujahid, the ministry’s head, met with the Indian delegation leader to discuss expanding bilateral relations and humanitarian cooperation.

Additionally, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported a meeting between Amir Khan Muttaqi and the Indian delegation, where the Indian diplomat promised to facilitate visa access for Afghans.

On Thursday, November 7, the Taliban’s foreign ministry confirmed that beyond visa facilitation, both sides discussed political and economic relations between Afghanistan and India.

India’s Special Representative for Afghanistan also emphasized that, alongside humanitarian aid for Afghans, New Delhi has initiated development projects in the country.

According to Singh, India is in consultation with international organizations regarding the implementation of these projects.

The Taliban’s foreign ministry described India’s commitment to development projects as encouraging.

It is worth noting that, like other countries, India does not formally recognize the Taliban but has established relations with the group in various areas.
