Local sources in Takhar province said a number of residential homes have been destroyed in several districts as a result of the heavy earthquake.
A source told Bayan News that a number of residential houses were destroyed in The Versaj, Klafgan and several other districts following the quake.
The source said the loss of life had not yet been reported.
Minutes earlier, a 6.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Kabul and several northern provinces of Afghanistan, with the epicenter of the quake reported in Badakhshan Province.
