Amnesty International has launched a 16-day campaign in support of women in Afghanistan
Bayan News – Amnesty International has launched a 16-day campaign in support of women in Afghanistan on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The organization announced on Saturday (November 25) on the X platform that the campaign will run until December 10, during which the perspectives and messages of women defenders, human rights activists, politicians, and educators will be shared.
Amnesty International stated, “They will express their views on how to address the dire situation of women and girls in Afghanistan.”
Amnesty International continues to urge people to join this campaign and share their messages in support of Afghan women and girls.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women comes at a time when Afghan women and girls face the highest rates of domestic and societal violence.
Furthermore, the Kabul interim government has imposed severe social restrictions on women and girls, including the ban on girls’ education and the prohibition of women working in government offices. These restrictions have caused significant psychological and emotional harm to women and girls.
In the previous regime, various institutions commemorated this day and documented and reported cases related to violence against women and girls. However, no such actions have taken place in the past two years.
